Over the past weeks, students from CP and CE1 have been striving to be crowned as the 2020-2021 LFJM Spelling Bee Champions. Their mission was to spell correctly as many words as possible within 60 seconds.
First, class competitions were held, with the winners then going to a grade level final. During the competition, the children exceeded all expectations in mastering their spellings and reciting them swiftly. All the students who participated in LFJM Spelling Bee deserve as much appreciation as those selected for the final round. Congratulations to our 2020-2021 LFJM Spelling Bee Champions!

What is a Spelling Bee contest?
A spelling bee is a competition in which contestants are asked to spell a broad selection of words, usually with a varying degree of difficulty. To compete, contestants must memorize the spellings of words as written in dictionaries, and recite them accordingly.
The concept is thought to have originated in the United States, and spelling bee events, along with variants, are now also held in some other countries around the world. Spelling bees are common only in countries where English is spoken, because other languages have a more predictable spelling system

Au cours des dernières semaines, les élèves de CP et CE1 se sont mobilisés pour être couronnés champions du concours d'orthographe du LFJM 2020-2021. Leur mission était d'épeler correctement le plus grand nombre de mots possible en 60 secondes.
Dans un premier temps, des compétitions par classe ont été organisées, les gagnants passant ensuite à une finale par niveau. Pendant la compétition, les enfants ont dépassé toutes les attentes en maîtrisant leur orthographe. Tous les élèves qui ont participé au concours d'orthographe du LFJM méritent autant d'appréciation que ceux qui ont été sélectionnés pour la finale. Félicitations à nos champions du concours d'orthographe 2020-2021 du LFJM !

Qu'est-ce qu'un concours Spelling Bee ?
Un concours d'orthographe est une compétition dans laquelle les participants doivent épeler une large sélection de mots, généralement avec un degré de difficulté variable. Pour concourir, les participants doivent mémoriser l'orthographe des mots tels qu'ils sont écrits dans les dictionnaires et les réciter en conséquence.
Le concept est né aux États-Unis, et les concours d'orthographe, ainsi que leurs variantes, sont désormais organisés dans d'autres pays du monde. Les concours d'orthographe ne sont courants que dans les pays où l'on parle anglais, car les autres langues ont un système orthographique plus prévisible.
